THAI RED CROSS ACTIVITIES IN PICTURES (MAY 1/2012)


On 26 April 2012, H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Executive Vice President of the Thai Red Cross Society presided over a ceremony offering alms to monks to mark the 119th anniversary of the founding of the Thai Red Cross Society. HRH also visited the Animal Toxicology Clinic of Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute of the Thai Red Cross. The Institute diagnoses and treats patients affected by animal toxin such as rabies and snake bites.
TRCS organized the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day on Saturday 5 May 2012 at the area of National Blood Centre on Henry Dunant Rd. Mr. Phan Wannamethee, Secretary General of TRCS presided over the opening ceremony. There were various activities such as blood, organ and eye donation, free dental check-up, movie star and youth performances, games, walk rally, youth talk as well as free entry to the snake farm and Red Cross museum.

National Blood Centre of TRCS organized Closing Ceremony of the Blood Donation from Red Cross Personnel Project. This project was held between 1 February – 26 April 2012 and marked the 80th Birthday Anniversary of HM Queen Sirikit, President of the TRCS, and also commemorated the 119th anniversary of the Thai Red Cross Society.
Mr. Phan Wannamethee, Secretary General of TRCS presided over the Ceremony. 248 units of blood were collected. On this occasion, Mr. Wannamethee, awarded certificates to the Bureau which had the greatest number of personnel participating. The Nursing College was the winner.

On 25 April 2012, Ms. Gina Dieu, Head of Operations Airbus Corporate Foundation, and Ms Pasaree Tanpaichit, representing Thai Airways International, were welcomed by Dr. Pichit Siriwan, Deputy Director of Relief and Community Health Bureau, at its Disaster Preparedness Centre. Assistance to flood victims was discussed.

The Volunteers Bureau organized a principle and method of operation on Qualification for Anti – Drug Policy (QAD) Workshop between 25-26 April 2012 at Ubon Ratchathani Rajaphat University. Mr. Pravat Ratarom, Deputy Governor of Ubon Ratchathani Province presided over the workshop and Prof. Emeritus Damrong Reinprayoon, Director of Red Cross Volunteers Bureau, conducted the workshop which sets standards for drug free schools.



President of Phuket Provincial Red Cross Chapter together with Committee members provided a Mobile Kitchen Unit for evacuees who had moved to evacuation centres after a tsunami warning had been issued on 11 April 2012.
President of Ang Thong Provincial Red Cross Chapter together with Committee members visited the elderly, poverty strick en and disabled people in Muang District and Wiset Chai Chan Sub-district. Red Cross Relief Kits were distributed.

Deputy President of Uttaradit Provincial RedCross Chapter acting President of the Chapter, and Chapter members visited impoverished and elderly families in the province providing them with stipends and foodstuffs.

President of Nor Ploy Red Cross District Branch Chapter in Kanchana Buri Province and Chapter members visited the elderly and distributed assistance.

President of Ban Pai Red Cross District Branch in Khon Kaen Province and Chapter members visited fire victims in the District. They also distributed Red Cross Relief Kits to needy people.
