THAI RED CROSS ACTIVITIES IN PICTURES (DECEMBER 2/2016)
HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn chairs TRC Council meeting
On December 2, 2016 Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Executive Vice President of the Thai Red Cross Society, proceeded to Phor Por Ror Building, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, to award Red Cross First Class Medals, Certificates of Honor, Pins of Appreciation and Honorary Membership Cards to blood donors and persons who have dedicated themselves to voluntary work and supported Thai Red Cross activities.
Then, HRH Princess proceeded to Terd Prakiat Building, and gave Certificates of Appreciation to the Presidents of Red Cross Chapters who had completed their term of office. HRH. then handed over Certificates of Appointment to the new President of Red Cross Chapters. Afterwards, the Princess chaired the 323rd Thai Red Cross Council Meeting. The agenda included Blood Donation Centre’s operations, a summary report of the Offering Ceremony of the Royal Kathin Robes, Master Plan for Volunteer Organization Development, Red Cross relief activities, inter alia.
Thai Red Cross Pays tribute to late King
On December 1, 2016, the Thai Red Cross Society held a merit making ceremony on the 50th day of the passing away of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. On this occasion, the Thai Red Cross Management Committee and staff together formed the Thai number “9” and sang the royal anthem to pay tribute to the late King. The solemn ceremony was held in front of the Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute Building. At Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital, Chonburi Province, many activities were organized to pay tribute to the late HM King Bhumibol, including merit making, offering alms to monks, free medical services, etc.
On November 30, 2016, at Lumpini Park, the staff from King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital together with representatives from government agencies and the private sector, also formed the Thai number “9” and sang the royal anthem to pay tribute to the late King.
Thai Red Cross Celebrates the Late King's Birthday Anniversary
On December 5, 2016, The Thai Red Cross Society organized special events on the occasion of King Bhumibol Adulyadej's birthday anniversary at Wat Praram 9 Kanchanapisek On this occasion, Pol. Maj. Chaowalit Singcharoen, Deputy Chair of Committee for Eye Procurement and Donation, the Thai Red Cross Society, presided over the Offering Ceremony of the Kathin Robes in tribute of HM King Bhumibol and launched eyes donation drive.
On the same day, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital also offered counseling, free medical check-up services and other health promotion activities to the public. The TRCS snake farm also provided free admission to visitors during December 5 – 7, 2016.
Thai Red Cross Co-hosts Workshop on Disability Inclusion and Victim Assistance
The Thai Red Cross Society in collaboration with Norwegian Red Cross, the International Committee of the Red Cross regional delegation in Bangkok and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies organized a National Society Workshop on Disability Inclusion and Victim Assistance in Southeast Asia, at Mandarin Hotel Bangkok on November 28, 2016. The international workshop aimed to identify approaches and implementation of the strategic framework on disability inclusion by National Societies in Southeast Asia, facilitate the sharing of best practices and lessons learned among National Societies, and support the ICRC’s Special Fund for the Disabled in identifying steps to enhance their future participation in the development of a Disability Reference Centre for the Movement. On this occasion, Mr. Sawanit Kongsiri, Assistant Secretary General for External Relations, representative of the Thai Red Cross Society, presided at the opening ceremony.
The first World PrEP Day
On November 29, 2016, the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre and Adam’s Love, an organization for MSM in Thailand, designated the first of December as World PrEP Day to promote pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) treatment for HIV prevention. On this occasion, Emeritus Professor Praphan Phanuphak, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre, also encouraged people to take PrEP medication to prevent HIV infection.
Provincial Red Cross Chapters
Bueng Kan Province
The President of Bueng Kan Red Cross Chapter along with Chapter Committee and members in collaboration with other related agencies visited and donated Royal Relief Kits to vulnerable people at Srivirai District.
Prachuap Khiri Khan Province
The President of Prachuap Khiri Khan Red Cross Chapter along with Chapter Committee and members visited vulnerable people at Sam Roi Yod District. They also donated financial support and daily necessities.
Nong Bua Lam Phu Province
The President of Nong Bua Lam Phu Red Cross Chapter along with Chapter Committee and members donated relief items and blankets to victims whose house was damaged by fire at Non Kamin Subdistrict.
Sa Kaeo Province
The President of Sa Kaeo Red Cross Chapter along with Chapter Committee and members donated relief items and daily necessities to victims whose house was damaged by fire at Mueang Sa Kaeo District.
The President of Chaiyaphum Red Cross Chapter along with Chapter Committee and members visited and donated 100 relief kits to vulnerable people at Kaeng Kro District.
Nakhon Ratchasima Province
The President of Nakhon Ratchasima Red Cross Chapter along with Chapter Committee and members visited a disabled person at Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District. They also donated relief items and financial support.
Nong Khai Province
The President of Nong Khai Red Cross Chapter along with Chapter Committee and members donated relief kits and daily necessities to victims whose houses were damaged by fire at Mueang Nong Khai District.
The Vice President of Prachinburi Red Cross Chapter along with Chapter Committee and members donated construction materials and financial support to vulnerable people at Srimahapho District.
Narathiwat Red Cross Chapter in collaboration with Narathiwat Hospital sent out a mobile unit to collect blood at Rue So District Hall. Blood amounting to 39,150 C.C was collected from 87 donors and 15 persons registered for eyes donation.
Lampang Red Cross Chapter in collaboration with Lampang Hospital sent out a mobile unit to collect blood at Command and Control Center Lampang Provincial Police Hall. Blood amounting to 34,800 C.C was collected from 87 donors.
Singburi Red Cross Chapter sent out a mobile unit to collect blood at Mueang Singburi District Hall. Blood amounting to 16,450 C.C was collected from 47 donors.
Nang Rong Red Cross District Branch along with District Branch Committee and members visited and donated financial support to victims whose house was damaged by fire at Nang Rong District.
