Nutrition for Chitralada Palace
Principles and Rationale
Between 1982 and 1986, nutritionists from the Thai Red Cross Society received royal permission to prepare meals for His Majesty the King. Following this, on April 2, 1987, a royally initiated Nutrition Department was set up to make sure that His Majesty the King, her Majesty the Queen and other members of the Royal Family have healthy, nutritious meals at all times. The project was born out of concern by the Thai Red Cross Executive Vice-President for His Majesty's health as he grew older. Today personnel from the Thai Red Cross Society and the Royal Household Bureau work together at the Department, and they are paid by the Royal Household Bureau
An outgrowth of the Royal Meals Preparation Program, the royally-initiated Nutrition Department for Chitralada Palace operates according to the wishes of Her Royal Highness the Princess, who is also the Thai Red Cross Executive Vice-President.
The Academic Service Section personnel have also received royal permission to work for the Nutrition Department at Chitralada Palace. This ensures that they follow the same rules and regulations and share the same personnel administration system as people employed by the Thai Red Cross Society. This designation also impresses on them the importance of their responsibility to look after the nutritional needs of Their Majesties the King and Queen and motivates them to work as Thai Red Cross Society officers. To provide guidelines for future practices in this regard, the management of Academic Service Section, Nutrition Department, has been restructured accordingly.ี้
Objectives
1. To restructure the management of the Academic Service Section, Nutrition Department, and to link the royal project to the Thai Red Cross Society. The permanent President of this Department is the Thai Red Cross Executive Vice-President.
