On 1 September 2021, Dr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, Director and Secretary to the Board of Directors, PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, and Mr. Somsak Borrisuttanakul, Chief Executive Officer, TPBI Public Company Limited, provided the financial support to Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University (CU) and Thai Red Cross Society, to support the manufacturing of Chula High Flow Nasal Cannula (Chula HFNC) for patients during the COVID-19 situation under the “Greater Care Charity by GC & Customers II” Project. Mr. Tej Bunnag, Secretary General of Thai Red Cross Society, and Prof. Suttipong Wacharasindhu, M. D., TRCS Assistant Secretary General for Health, Director of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, and Dean of Faculty of Medicine, CU, were the beneficiaries at Thai Red Cross Fundraising Bureau, TRCS.
The medical innovation of Chula HFNC is the work of Thai people under the manufacturing cooperation between TRCS, Faculty of Medicine, CU, and the alumni of Faculty of Engineering, CU, using donated funds of Faculty of Medicine’s foundation. The Chula HFNC is electricity and electromagnetic interference (EMI) certified from the Electrical and Electronics Institute and has been informed to the Medical Device Control Division, Food and Drug Administration as of Medical Device Act, Section 27 (1). The Chula HFNC will be assembled at Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute, TRCS, and provided to hospitals in need.
