On 5 December 2020, Mr. Tej Bunnag, Chair of the Committee for Eye Procurement and Donation, the Thai Red Cross Society, presided over the closing ceremony of “From Buddhist Holy Day to Father’s Day, Merit Making through Eye Donation 2020” Project, at Phra Ram 9 Kanchanaphisek Temple, Bangkok. The campaign was held with the aim to commemorate His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and to help corneal deformity patients to see the world and have better lives.
This annual project was run from 13 March 2020; the birthday of temple abbot Phra Dhamma Bundit until 5 December 2020. Due to the COVID-19 situation, there were only 48,790 registered eye donors, lower than the target of 65,000.
