19 June 2023, Mr. Tej Bunnag, Secretary General of Thai Red Cross Society, handed over a relief warehouse to Prof. Dr. Phouthone Moungpak, President of Lao Red Cross, at Vientiane Capital, Lao PRD. The handover ceremony was attended by Mr. Khamlavanh Chanthalavanh – Vice Minister, Deputy Chief of Prime Minister’s Office of Lao PDR, Mr. Inthapangna Khieovongphachanh – Deputy Head of the President’s Office of Lao DPR, Dr. Apichart Chinwanno – Assistant Secretary General for External Relations of Thai Red Cross Society, Lt.Gen. Amnat Barlee M.D. – Director of Relief and Community Health Bureau, and Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi of Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane.
The warehouse construction worth 8,347,395 THB was funded by Thai public donation through Thai Red Cross Society. This humanitarian cooperation project is a part of continuing relief assistance fund received from Thai people during the Xe Pian – Xe Namnoy dam collapse in Attapeu province, Lao PDR in 2018. The warehouse will be utilized by Lao Red Cross to store relief goods and provide humanitarian assistance to Laotian people affected by natural disasters.
