The new, rapid outbreak of COVID-19 in Samut Sakhon Province led to immediate insufficiency of medical equipment used for pandemic prevention. On 21 December 2020, the Thai Red Cross Society led by the Relief and Community Health Bureau, the Thai Red Cross Chapters Administration Office, and Samut Sakhon Red Cross Chapter assisted victims and provided protective equipment for medical personnel and the public such as 2,000 sets of PPE suits, 10,000 single-use N95 masks, and 10,000 surgical masks.
Moreover, on 20 December 2020, the TRCS delivered 1,000 necessity kits following requests received through “PhonPhai” application from those under quarantine and victims affected by the lockdown measure in risky areas. More than 3,000 necessity kits were delivered.
From 27 March until 20 December 2020, the TRCS assisted migrants and those affected by COVID-19 in 68 provinces by providing 157,321 sets of necessity kits and drinking water worth THB 103,831,860 in total. For Samut Sakorn Province, TRCS provided 7,397 necessity kits along with alcohol-based hand sanitizer gel, informative leaflets, thermometer, and cloth masks for adults and children.
