Limited Edition T-Shirt for Blood Hero
The Thai Red Cross National Blood Centre invites healthy people to donate blood for storage and distribution to hospitals during the COVID-19 crisis. Blood hero limited edition
t-shirts will be given to donors who donate blood throughout the entire month of October, November and December 2021.
Assoc. Prof. Dootchai Chaiwanichsiri, M.D., Director of the National Blood Centre, Thai Red Cross Society, mentioned that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected blood donation as blood donors gradually decline in number causing blood shortage in nationwide hospitals. Medical treatment and surgery appointments were postponed due to blood shortage and it may put
patients’ lives at risk. Since the beginning of October, the hospitals have planned to increase the surgery appointments from 25% to 50%, while blood must be distributed for patients suffering blood disorders and still waiting for blood transfusion treatment at the same time.
“Blood Hero” limited edition t-shirts is designed by Thai designer; SMILEYHOUND by GREYHOUND. The logo of SMILEYHOUND with blood drop mask covering the eye is interpreted as the good intention of blood donors who do good things without expecting others to admire them for doing it. Ms. Panipak Wongpattanakit (Tennis), the gold medalist of the 2020 Olympic Games women’s taekwondo, together with the taekwondo team have become the Thai Red Cross presenters to promote this campaign.
