285 mobility aid items from United Kingdom were distributed to children with disabilities in Chiang Mai, Khon Khan, Chai Nat, Chonburi and Nakhon Si Thammarat province by Thai Red Cross Society in collaboration with M.L. Pariyada Diskul, Ms. Pippa Hamilton and Maersk Line (Thailand) Ltd.
On 23 February 2023, Mr. Tej Bunnag, Secretary General of Thai Red Cross Society chaired a handover ceremony of the mobility aid items valued 1.6 million Baht to children with disabilities, attended by Mr. Piset Rittapirom, Country Manager of Maersk Line (Thailand) Ltd and Ms. Phoungtong Srivilai, Director of Sri Sangwan Chiang Mai School and the representative of Special Education Bureau, Ministry of Education.
Back in July 2022, the International Relations Bureau, Thai Red Cross Society started this project with M.L. Pariyada Diskul and Ms. Pippa Hamilton who kindly liaised with donors in UK and Maersk Line (Thailand) Ltd. The shipment process and delivery from UK to Thailand took more than 6 months, and finally arrived Bangkok in early February 2023. Maersk’s staff and teachers from schools for children with disabilities worked together and delivered the mobility aid items to children with disabilities in five provinces within a week. The children have now received the items and use them to support their daily living activities.
