On 14 June 2021, at Bhumisiri Mungkhalanusorn Building, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital (KCMH), Thai Red Cross Society (TRCS), along with Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, and Chula Vaccine Research Center (Chula VRC), started the 1st human trial for ChulaCov19 Vaccine to test whether the vaccine was working efficiently under medical staff and researchers’ responsibility.
To date, Chula VRC has successfully tested the ChulaCov19 Vaccine on monkeys and mice. The 1st phase of human trial was conducted by dividing volunteers into two age groups of 36 persons each. The first group is aged 18-55 years old, and another group is aged 65-75 years old. They are divided into sub groups to get vaccination for 10 micrograms, 25 micrograms and 50 micrograms, and to check if which one is the most effective. Thereafter, Chula VRC will have 150-300 volunteers for the 2nd phase of human trial for ChulaCov19 Vaccine starting around August 2021.
