Thai Red Cross Society delegation led by Mr. Tej Bunnag, Secretary General, attended the Preparatory Meeting for the 34th International Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, from 6 – 7 May 2024. This meeting mainly focused on draft zero resolutions of the conference. The 5 resolutions are as follows:
- Toward a universal culture of compliance with international humanitarian law
- Protecting civilians and other protected persons and objects against cyber and information operations during armed conflict
- Strengthening disaster risk governance through comprehensive disaster laws, policies and plans
- Empowering local leadership, capacity and delivery in principled humanitarian action and strengthening resilience
- Protecting people from the humanitarian impacts of extreme climate and weather events: Working together to strengthen anticipatory action
Besides, on 7 May 2024, the delegation participated in the Strategy 2030 Consultation aimed to discuss the direction of the mid-term review of IFRC Strategy 2030, the progress, and the priorities to be set in the strategy until 2030. This session also included a briefing on the new IFRC Certification initiative which is closely aligned with the transformation of Strategy 2030.
