Thai Red Cross Society has allocated funds of USD 20,000 (approximately THB 700,000) to support relief operations in the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC)’s emergency appeal.
On 11 September 2023, Strom Daniel hit Libya, causing floods that escalated the collapse of two dams in Derna, which widely affected neighbouring communities. The IFRC’s website claimed on 14 September 2023 that there were more than 5,000 deaths, 10,000 still missing, and at least 30,000 people have been internally displaced. Moreover, the cities were devastated by the floods which badly damaged habitations, consumer goods, public health and facility systems. Now, IFRC and Libya Red Crescent Society are working together on relief operations.
