The Thai Red Cross Society has sent a condolences letter and donated 10,000 US dollars (314,700 Baht) to Timor-Leste Red Cross Society on 22 April 2021 due to the devastating flooding and landslides Cyclone Seroja in Dili, capital city of Timor-Leste. The severe storm was starting in early April 2021. It caused 42 lives lost and over 10,000 people’s houses were affected, therefore, they need temporary shelters, daily necessities such as food supplies and water.
Timor-Leste Red Cross Society immediately responded to the disaster by providing necessities, supporting the evacuation, setting up shelters, collecting data of the victims, providing psychosocial support and other kinds of services, and requesting support from the Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
