On 21 May 2021, the Thai Red Cross Society sent a letter of condolence and donated humanitarian assistance of 100,000 US dollars (3,152,000 Baht) to support the Indian Red Cross Society amid the serious COVID-19 situation in the Republic of India. Recently, the number of new daily COVID-19 cases and deaths in India has been alarmingly high. More than 27 million cases and 300,000 deaths have been reported.
The Indian Red Cross Society responded to the pandemic by providing humanitarian relief, distributing hygienic masks and alcohol-based hand sanitizers, delivering first aid services, and setting up isolation centers. It also acts as a center for receiving and allocating assistance from the international community.
