On behalf of Thai Red Cross Society, Secretary General electronically signed the Climate and Environment Charter for Humanitarian Organizations on 11 January 2024, and declared the targets to reduce impact from climate change and environmental deterioration as follows:
1. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions and waste through reducing, reusing, and recycling
2. Increase environmental policies and sustainability in the operations and activities with effective outcomes.
3. Increase energy efficiency and use of renewable energy in facilities and infrastructure projects.
4. Promote environmental sustainability awareness and disseminate policies and guidelines on environment and mitigation of impact from climate change to staff and volunteers to adopt and put in practice.
The Climate and Environment Charter for Humanitarian Organizations is an international collaboration of humanitarian organizations aiming to raise awareness of climate change and environmental crisis, and join force to reduce its impact. This charter is guided by the Paris Agreement, Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and other relevant international laws and standards.
