The Srisavarindhira Thai Red Cross Institute of Nursing was established on 16 June 1914 at the command of King Rama VI. Formerly called the “Thai Red Cross Nursing College”, it is Thailand’s first institute to provide nursing courses. On 26 December 2016, it was upgraded to be a university-level nursing institute under the supervision of the state and the patronage of the Thai Red Cross Society. The institute aims to provide education and research, and to promote and develop high vocational nursing education and related disciplines.
The Princess later proceeded to Sirindhranusorn 60th Anniversary Building, which was established to commemorate Her Royal Highness’ 5th cycle birthday anniversary also to be used for education, research, and student accommodation. The building consists of 37 classrooms, 5 conference rooms, nurse training rooms, a computer lab, library, indoor sports space and 259 dormitory rooms. Financial support for construction of the building was contributed by the government as well as the Thai Red Cross Society Fund in 1999.
