On 11 December 2023, Dr. Apichart Chinwanno, Assistant Secretary General for External Relations of Thai Red Cross Society attended an extraordinary session of the General Assembly to elect Red Cross and Red Crescent Society (IFRC). As a result of the election, Ms. Kate Forbes, a candidate from American Red Cross, was elected as the new President.
Ms. Kate Frobes, from Arizona, the United States of America, is until now the chair of the IFRC Audit and Risk Commission. Ms. Forbes has more than 40 years of experience in humanitarian work with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. She became the second woman and the fifth American to hold this position.
