About 3,000 displaced civilians affected by conflicts in Myanmar received assistance from Thai Red Cross Society between 20-22 April 2024 at 2 temporary shelters, namely Tha Sai Rujira and Tha 25, in Mae Sot District, Tak Province. Thai Red Cross Provincial Chapter of Tak and District Branch of Mae Sot fully supported humanitarian operations of Thai local authorities.
On 20 April 2024, the Red Cross District Branch of Mae Sot set up an ad-hoc donation center at Mae Sot Administration District Hall. In this regard, Mr. Somchai Kitjareanrungrote, Governor of Tak, together with Mrs. Wanruedee Kitjareanrungrote, Chairperson of Thai Red Cross Provincial Chapter of Tak, and committee members mobilized support and donations from local government agencies, private sectors, civil society organizations, NGOs, local Thai and foreign communities. Over 7,500 cooked meals, 280 UHT milk cartons, 4,500 bottles of drinking water, 520 mosquito nets, 130 sets of medical supplies, and others with a total value of over 600,000 THB were distributed and 20 latrines were installed.
At present, all displaced civilians have voluntarily returned home. The Red Cross District Branch of Mae Sot discontinued the donation center on 24 April 2024.
