On 7 May 2021, Ms.Christine Schraner Burgener, United Nations Special Envoy of the Secretary-General on Myanmar, met Mr. Tej Bunnag, Secretary General of the Thai Red Cross Society, accompanied by Dr. Apichart Shinwanno, Assistant Secretary General for External Relations, at Terd Prakiat Building, the Thai Red Cross Society. The purpose of meeting was to seek advice from the Thai Red Cross Society on what more can be done because the UN is ready to provide all possible support to Thailand and the Thai Red Cross Society’s readiness to respond to possible influxes of displaced persons crossing the border into the country, especially now that COVID-19 has further complicated the situation.
