Thai Red Cross Society has contributed USD 20,000 (approximately THB 663,000) to the Philippine Red Cross to support humanitarian operations for communities affected by the earthquake that struck the Philippines in early June 2026.
On June 8, 2026, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast near Sarangani Province in southern Philippines, causing widespread devastation across Mindanao Island. According to the government and humanitarian organization reports, more than 346,000 people were affected by the disaster. The earthquake resulted in 47 fatalities, approximately 680 injuries, and dozens of missing persons. Extensive damage was reported to critical infrastructure, including government offices, hospitals, schools, gymnasiums, and residential properties.
In response, the Philippine Red Cross swiftly mobilized its staff and volunteers to deliver emergency humanitarian assistance. Relief efforts have included the distribution of hot meals, the establishment of welfare support services, the provision of first aid and psychosocial support. Medical and response units have been deployed to augment local healthcare capacity and support affected communities.
