Thai Red Cross Society hosted the first bilateral meeting between Thai Red Cross and the Malaysian Red Crescent Society from 26 – 27 August 2026, in Songkhla Province. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Apichart Chinwanno, Assistant Secretary General for International Affairs of Thai Red Cross Society, together with Dato’ Danial Iskandar, Secretary General of Malaysian Red Crescent Society.
More than 100 participants attended, including staff and volunteers from the Relief and Community Health Bureau, the International Affairs Office, Red Cross Provincial Chapters Administration Bureau, 16 Thailand southern provincial chapters, delegates from Malaysian Red Crescent Society from Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan, Kedah, and Perak states, as well as Consul General of Malaysia in Songkhla.
The meeting aimed to review lessons learned from flood relief operations in southern Thailand in 2025, including assistance given to both Thai and foreign nationals, and to strengthen cross-border humanitarian cooperation between Thailand and Malaysia. It also focused on enhancing preparedness for any disasters that may arise in the future.
Following the meeting, the Malaysian Red Crescent delegation visited and exchanged working experiences with Thai Red Cross Songkhla Provincial Chapter and Regional Blood Center No.12
