Dr. Apichart Chinwanno, Assistant Secretary General for International Affairs of the Thai Red Cross Society, was invited by Singapore Red Cross to be a panel speaker at the 9th Edition of the Singapore Humanitarian Conference 2024 on 3 August 2024. Held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore, the conference was themed “Hands Unite, Hearts Ignite: Action with Compassion.”
Joining Dr. Apichart as speakers were Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz, President of the Turkish Red Crescent, Dr. Mohammad Nabi Burhan, Secretary-General of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, and Mr. Necephor Mghendi, Head of Delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Afghanistan. They shared their experiences in humanitarian work assisting disaster victims and vulnerable populations in Turkey, Afghanistan, and Thailand.
Dr. Apichart presented Thai Red Cross’ humanitarian work and innovations, including the “PhonPhai” application and the Thai Red Cross Biometric Authentication System (TRCBAS). These technologies enable the organization to provide essential services to vulnerable groups and disaster victims in a more efficient way.
On August 5th, 2024, Thai Red Cross representatives also participated in the Better Together (III) Dialogue for SEA Region at the Singapore Red Cross headquarter. This meeting brought together representatives from Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Southeast Asia region to develop strategies for collaboration on regional disaster response.
