Mr. Tej Bunnag, Secretary General, together with other delegates and youth representatives from Thai Red Cross Society, participated in the 20th Southeast Asia Red Cross Red Crescent Leaders Meeting hosted by Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from 21-22 September 2023. This event aimed to enhance humanitarian collaboration and strengthen coordination of Red Cross and Red Crescent movement in the region.
In the meeting, Thai Red Cross Secretary General chaired a session on SEA engagement in IFRC governance and shared the progress in considering the signing of the Climate and Environment Charter for humanitarian organizations and setting the targets. He also gave inputs on enhancing the effective collaboration with the ASEAN based on the MoU signed between ASEAN and IFRC. Moreover, the Secretary General updated the humanitarian assistance which Thai Red Cross Society provided due to the influx of Myanmar nationals living in temporary shelters in Thailand.
Prior to the leaders meeting, two Thai Red Cross youth representatives, namely Mr. Theethad Thipsoda and Mr. Phonpisith Richkamroph took part in the 2nd Southeast Asia Youth Forum which provides opportunities for youth representatives to share their new ideas on humanitarian projects to the leaders of Southeast Asia Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
The delegates also called on Samdech Kittipritthbindit Bun Rany HUNSEN, President of Cambodian Red Cross, and also visited CRC’s headquarter.
