On December 23, 2025, H.E. Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Thailand, representing the Red Cross Society of China, presented a donation of USD 100,000 to Thai Red Cross Society. The donation was received by H.E. Tej Bunnag, Secretary General and executive team of Thai Red Cross Society. Ms. Pensom Lertsithichai, Deputy Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also attended the handover ceremony.
The contribution from the Red Cross Society of China will support Thai Red Cross Society’s recovery efforts following severe flooding in nine southern provinces of Thailand. Thai Red Cross Society will allocate the funds to provide essential relief items, including dry food, medicines, household necessities, and cleaning supplies to help affected communities.
In addition, both sides discussed humanitarian cooperation between the two Red Cross Societies and reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between the two countries. Ambassador Zhang expressed gratitude to the Thai people and Thai Red Cross Society for their previous support to the Red Cross Society of China for the Sichuan earthquake relief efforts. Likewise, Secretary General Tej conveyed appreciation to the Chinese people and the Red Cross Society of China for their assistance to the flood affected people in southern Thailand.
