On 3 August 2022, Her Excellency Mrs. C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand, received medicines and medical supplies valued 829,917.75 Baht from Dr. Apichart Chinwanno, Assistant Secretary General for External Relations, Thai Red Cross Society at the handling over ceremony held at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. These medical items are given as relief assistance to Sri Lanka at time of economic crisis.

The medicines and medical supplies were funded and procured by Thai Red Cross Society budget of 679,917.75 Baht with additional support from Minor International PCL Thailand amounting to 150,000 Baht. The shipment will be delivered to Sri Lanka by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand in collaboration with World Health Organization.

On 8 June 2022, Thai Red Cross Society has sent the second donation in the amount of 34, 320 US dollars (1,189,644.80 THB) received from the people in Thailand to assist Ukrainian Red Cross Society in its efforts to alleviate the suffering of affected people by armed conflict in Ukraine.

At this critical time, civilians are being injured, killed, and also vital infrastructures have been destroyed on a massive scale. Over 12 million people have been displaced to find safe shelters in other areas of Ukraine and neighboring countries. Ukrainian Red Cross Society has continued its efforts to provide lifesaving humanitarian relief across the country, including food aid, safe shelters, health care, clean water, adequate sanitation and hygiene etc. amid difficulties in rendering aid to those in urgent need.

Thai Red Cross Society donated the first amount of 20,000 US dollars (673,000 THB) as humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian Red Cross Society on 15 March 2022

On April 8, 2022, the Central Administration Bureau of Thai Red Cross Society organized an event to congratulate and honor Mr. Phan Wannamethee, Advisor of the Thai Red Cross Society, on the occasion of receiving a National Elderly Award 2022 from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.

 

The executives of Thai Red Cross Society including Mr. Tej Bunnag, Secretary General of Thai Red Cross Society, Khunying Jada Wattanasiritham, Treasurer of Thai Red Cross Society joined the ceremony to express mental muthita at the reception room on the ground floor of Somdet Phra Yannasamvara Honored Building.

On 15 March 2022, Thai Red Cross Society has donated a sum of USD 20,000 (673,000 Baht) in support of the ongoing humanitarian operations due to the armed conflict in Ukraine. In addition, TRCS is raising funds from the public for the Ukrainian Red Cross Society’s relief activities.

The escalation of conflict in Ukraine is affecting all Ukrainian civilians. More than 2 million persons have now left the country. Many more are displaced within Ukraine, facing danger, hunger, freezing temperatures, illness, as well as the risk of physical harm and emotional distress.

In response to humanitarian crises, staff and volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society strive to provide relief to people who are affected including clean water, food, hygiene items, shelter materials, medical and other supplies.

The international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement reminds the parties to the conflict to respect the obligations under International Humanitarian Law and refrain from targeting civilian infrastructures.

The Thai Red Cross Society and its network partners provide the proactive COVID–19 vaccination rollout for displaced persons at the Ban Mae La Temporary Shelter, Mae La Sub district, Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province. It has mobilized its resources to assist in the effort to reduce death rates and minimize the severity of illness as well as helping to build the immunity of the community.

 

Recently, Lt. Gen. Amnat Barlee, M.D., Director of the Relief and Community Health Bureau (RCHB), the Thai Red Cross Society (TRCS) visited the proactive vaccination against COVID-19 for displaced persons who had not been vaccinated before, joined with Mrs. Wanruedee Kitcharoenrungroj, the President of Tak Provincial Red Cross Chapter, Mr. Kanpong Phiphatmontrikul, Senior Permanent Secretary of Tha Song Yang District and Head of the Ban Mae La Temporary Shelter, Public health officers in Tak Province, representatives from the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and related agencies participate in the implementation of this vaccination service project.

The vaccination rollout against COVID-19 is part of a humanitarian operation to help alleviate suffering for fellow human beings who are in a vulnerable situation. It is essential that all sectors coordinate to assist people living in Thailand, including Thais, migrants, and various ethnic groups, especially vulnerable people at risk of severe illness or death if infected with COVID-19 and those who have difficulty accessing health services.

The Thai Red Cross Society, in conjunction with RCHB, has implemented a program to provide Sino Pharm COVID-19 vaccines for free to members of the public. In keeping with the humanitarian principles of The Red Cross, all people living in Thailand are eligible for this program regardless of race, creed or religion to prevent the spreading of COVID-19 also to reduce severe illness and death. This project is the cooperation between TRCS, Government agencies, private sectors, and various international humanitarian organizations.

It has been implemented 8,619 doses of COVID-19 vaccine in 3 provinces which are

  1. Ban Tham Hin Temporary Shelter, Suan Phueng District, Ratchaburi Province,
  2. Ban Mai Nai Soi Temporary Shelter, Mueang District, Mae Hong Son Province
  3. Ban Mae La Temporary Shelter, Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province.

Regarding the proactive COVID-19 vaccination for displaced persons at the Ban Mae La Temporary Shelter, the service scheduled for the first dose on 8th – 10th February 2022 for 677 persons.

The project is under the cooperation between the Thai Red Cross Society, Ministry of Interior, Tak province, Tha Song Yang Hospital and IRC which supported by IFRC, ICRC, Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) and provided the internet network signals from Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS) and True Corporation Public Company Limited (True Move H) under the supervision of the Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) Number 31 Lampang (District Office of NBTC 31 Lampang).

The second dose is scheduled for March 2022.

This will be the first coordinated response to a public health crisis of this magnitude that will make use of current service systems such as face and iris recognition technology to collect, analyze, and track data. This system has been developed by NECTEC and iRespond, which is connected with the Ministry of Public Health’s “Moh Prom” application, to register to receive the vaccination for those who do not have Thai citizenship and evidence in civil registration. The procedure is temporarily setting a personal ID for the vaccinated persons, starting with 1 alphabet, followed by a 13-digit number so, in the future, the Thai Red Cross Society could provide additional vaccines or receive more donations, it will be able to expand the service coverage to more groups of people in various areas across the country.

The Thai Red Cross Society has sent a condolence letter and donated 20,000 US dollars (THB 660,800) to Tonga Red Cross Society on 9 February 2022 in response to the massive volcanic eruption and tsunami near Tonga. The natural disaster has caused the loss of lives and the injuries, as well as the severe damage. Over 80,000 people were affected and are in need of daily necessities such as safe drinking water and food supplies as well as temporary shelters.

Tonga Red Cross Society immediately responded to the disaster by setting up shelters and providing clean water, tarpaulins, kitchen sets and other essential relief, and requesting support from the Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

 

On 29 December 2021, H.E. Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, as representative of Thai Red Cross Society, handovers 40 units of Oxygen Concentrator to Myanmar Red Cross Society. The Oxygen Concentrators donation from Thai Red Cross Society is to support the Myanmar Red Cross Society’s humanitarian operations to fight Covid-19 pandemic. The donation was handed over to Dr. Daw Amaya Maw Naing, Vice President of the Myanmar Red Cross Society, by the Thai Ambassador at the office of Myanmar Red Cross Society.

The Myanmar Red Cross Society is committed to providing humanitarian assistance to people affected by Covid-19 Pandemic and internal strife.

The Government of the People’s Republic of China presents 100,000 Doses of Sinopharm Vaccine to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Executive Vice President of Thai Red Cross Society, for Thai Red Cross Society’s COVID-19 response activities

​The Government of the People’s Republic of China sent 100,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine to Thai Red Cross Society on 9 December 2021. These COVID-19 prevention vaccines were donated to support the activities against COVID-19 pandemic of Thai Red Cross Society. This is the 2nd lot of Shinopharm vaccine donated from the People’s Republic of China. They will be administered to vulnerable people in the country who have not had access to the vaccination.

On 5 October 2021, Red Cross Youth Volunteers of Sawang Arom Wittayakhom School, in collaboration with Uthai Thani Red Cross Chapter, provided Thai Red Cross necessity kits to people affected by flooding in Nong Luang and Bo Yang Sub-district, Sawang Arom District, Uthai Thani Province.

On 7 October 2021, Red Cross Youth Volunteers of Sukhothai Wittayakhom School facilitated medical personnel in administering COVID-19 vaccines to 2,409 students of the School located in Mueang Sukhothai District, Sukhothai Province.
